FacePlate is the term used to represent the Details and Ratings of Motor/Transformer etc using an embedded Stainless Steel Plate on them.

In SCADA and DCS, Faceplate is a graphic representation of a particular instrument/device in field, which shows the details like its Name, Description, Alarm Limits, kW Ratings etc.

Built-in execution element, comparable to operator, function or statement in a text based programming language

It is a communication standard used to communicate with devices in field like transmitters to the controlling PLC or DCS.

Anticipating a change in process through the process value or other parameters and bring about a noticeable change in the output of the PID.

A display developed using automation software for the plant operators to visualise the plant which is under operation.

All electrical and electronic devices are grounded to the earth pit or earthing rod which is mainly to get zero potential or ground potential of operation.

These sensors measure pressure difference between two points. If the negative port is left open to the atmosphere (which varies according to the location and the weather), the pressure measurement is then relative to atmospheric pressure.

A series of commands that provide uniform and consistent communication for all master and slave devices; includes universal, common practice, and device-specific commands

Highway Addressable Remote Transducer communication protocol; the industry standard protocol for digitally enhanced 4–20mA communication with smart field devices

A communication network in which the master and slave devices are
HART smart or HART compatible

Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning

Highway Addressable Remote Transducer: A form of communication standard used for communicating with field devices like transmitters and valves.

a phenomenon which depicts different output effects when loading and unloading. Hysteresis leads to obtaining two different values of output for the same input under increasing and decreasing conditions.

Hysteresis in PLC/DCS operations are used as a band or a specific range of the input for which an alarm or event should not be triggered or a triggered one to acknowledge.

Input/Output: The basic common term used to denote anything in PLC/DCS which is given out to the filed or taken from the field as input.

Any device which is used for measuring/controlling a particular physical parameters like temperature or level or pressure.
